What is DuckDuckGo? How Does It Work?
What is DuckDuckGo?
There are many search engines today and they have their own features that not all users know about. Surprisingly, the vast majority of web users have never heard of the fact that popular search engines have little-known but attractive competitors.
Among them is the DuckDuckGo search engine, colloquially called “Gusem”. The logo went into circulation because the logo was a white goose on a red background.
Named after America’s popular game Duck Duck Goose, after entrepreneur Gabrielle Weinberg decided to create a rival search engine, Google. Apparently, he thought this would work as a free idea
He later admitted to the search engine that choosing such a name had little effect on his promotion. More attention should be paid to advertising important features of the information retrieval system and they are very interesting.
Privacy
Probably, you noticed that after the search results were sent back to the user, on the same Google search engine, the next time you login, annoying ads of anything “on the subject” of the previous request began to appear.
This means that Google automatically monitors your interests and will now try to load you from an ad for something you absolutely do not need. Therefore, on DuckDuckGo everything depends on privacy and anonymity.
Advantages
There are no filters in the structure of the DuckDuckGo search engine. Its second important feature is that it was initially installed not to maximize the number of results, but to the most authoritative sources (electronic encyclopedias, libraries, research bases, government websites, other sources with a good reputation).
Why would a user need a million or more points (given by frequency of access) if a few dozen links are enough for resources, from which you can get not only complete, but also reliable information?
How to Use It
The DuckDuckGo search engine is easily added as an extension to any browser and only requires free instant activation to launch. The extension itself can be removed from the browser with one click of the mouse if something does not fit.
A very useful feature of this search engine is that when you start the browser, it is immediately marked with a characteristic icon and is “registered” in the address bar.
If you click on the icon to call up additional features, you will be pleasantly surprised by the search engine’s ability to anonymously search a number of important sources of information grouped in a list.
For Kids
DuckDuckGo.com is not a search engine designed specifically for children. However, it can do a better job at filtering out inappropriate content than other search engines.
DuckDuckGo.com was created for privacy, and that’s a good thing, especially if we’re talking about children and teenagers who are least concerned about their private lives.
We don’t recommend DuckDuckGo.com for elementary school students because it doesn’t filter search results by age. However, we believe it is a better choice for teenagers than, for example, Google or Bing.
Reasons To Use DuckDuckGo
- It does not record your computer’s IP address. Because he doesn’t care who you are.
- No cookies with tracking information are stored on your computer.
- Your search history is not saved or stored on DuckDuckGo servers. But this is done by Google.
- DuckDuckGo does not sell your search activity to any third-party advertisers. But everyone knows that Google is selling it.
These are some reasons that are enough for most users to start using DuckDuckGo completely as a search engine. But for some users, unfortunately, it is not enough.
