10 Best Reasons Why Marriage is So Important

If you are married, you may have discovered why marriage is so important and experienced some of the good that comes from it. Or, maybe marriage was hard for some of you and you’re no longer married. However, there is hope. But that hope starts with realizing that marriage can be more amazing than you have experienced or even thought.

1. Beginning

Marriage is the beginning—the beginning of the family—and is a life-long commitment [Tweet This]. It also provides an opportunity to grow in selflessness as you serve your wife and children. Marriage is more than a physical union; it is also a spiritual and emotional union. This union mirrors the one between God and His Church.

2.Purity

Marriage is designed for purity. We are under assault by temptation nearly every minute and from many directions. The bond of marriage gives us the support to defeat that temptation by engaging in deep, satisfying love—a love that gives to, and receives from, our mate physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

3. Oneness

When a man and woman get married, the “two become one.” Marriage is a bond like no other. It gives us a life partner, a teammate, as we move through the challenges of life together.

4. Love

Marriage is designed to mirror our Creator’s unconditional love for us. It’s a love that will always be there and will never leave us or forsake us. When a man and woman love one another with that unconditional love, contentment follows and joy abounds.

5. Parenting

When a marriage produces a child or receives a child through adoption, it is one of life’s greatest blessings. Roughly 40% of children being raised today are in a home without a father. The effects of that fact are staggering. Father absence causes increases in mental and behavioral disorders as well as criminal activity and substance abuse. But when children are raised in a healthy marriage, they get a front row seat to see and experience the lasting benefits of strong family.

6.  Sharing your life with someone

As humans, we’ve evolved to be social creatures that need attention. Living life as a single forever may sound appealing, but at some point, all of us feel the need to be watched by someone else, and have someone else to share our happy and sad moments.

7. You’ve enjoyed your single life

Do you remember how your teen years and your single years were? You’ve partied and had your share of fun, almost until those one night stands and meaningless flings make no sense to you anymore. At this point, your mind’s telling you that you’ve changed, and you want someone to share your life with, and not just your bed for a night.

8. You’re truly in love

Have you been in a serious relationship for more than a few years with the same person and you’re still truly happy to be in love? You’re more ready than you think. 

9. Motivation

Just the thought of knowing that you have a significant other who loves you and cares for you can give you the strength and determination to become a better person and pursue your goals and ambitions with renewed vigor. If you truly love the one you’re married to, you’d be motivated to create a better life for you and your spouse.

10. The norms of society

A marriage is universally accepted and even demanded in society through the ages. And just like we’re all meant to work, earn money, live in a house and lead our lives within the unwritten and written laws of a well functioning society, getting married to the one you love is the right and respectful way to live with each other. It may sound archaic, but marriage is still the norm and not the exception.

 

Marriage in Islam

Marriage is a vital part of a Muslim’s life. In fact marriage is so important in the religion of Islam that it is declared to be one half of one’s faith. As a Muslim one should live in accordance with the Islamic Jurisprudence in the way shown by the greatest of creations and the person who was the greatest impact on mankind in the existence of the universe, The Holy Prophet Muhammad Description: Description: Description: Peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet himself married and also encouraged others to marry. It has been reported that The Prophet Muhammad Description: Description: Description: Peace and blessings be upon him said,

‘A person who possesses the means to marry (i.e. he is able to work etc. to support a wife and children) and does not marry then he is not from amongst us (i.e. the believers).’

In another narration the Prophet Muhammad Description: Description: Description: Peace and blessings be upon him has been reported to have said,

‘Do not delay in three things; 1) The offering of the obligatory prayer. 2) The offering of the funeral prayer when the deceased’s body is present . 3) The marriage of a woman when her couple is found’

One can see from this statement that to become a complete and true believer one must act upon the advice given by The Prophet Muhammad Description: Description: Description: Peace and blessings be upon him. This means marrying when the partner is found and not delaying it for too long.
